Beliefs Create Reality
Your beliefs shape your life experience.
Whatever you believe to be true, you tend to find evidence for it.
Here is an excerpt from one of David Bohm’s (a famous physicist) speeches. Published in the the book, “The Quantum & The Lotus”, he beautifully articulates the interplay between our beliefs and what we experience as reality:
“Reality is what we take to be true.
What we take to be true is what we believe.
What we believe is based upon our perception.
What we perceive depends on what we look for.
What we look for depends upon what we think.
What we think depends upon what we perceive.
What we perceive depends upon what we believe.
What we believe determines what we take to be true.
What we take to be true determines our reality”
Reality is more malleable than most would like to believe.
You bend reality by changing the way you think and installing new beliefs.
Once the new beliefs are installed, reality conforms to these new beliefs.
Life becomes quite fun, because you realize that reality can be whatever you choose it to be. You can mold it into whatever you desire.
Everyone is creating their reality (most people do this unconsciously).
Your Brain. The Supercomputer.
Your brain appears to function like a supercomputer.
Your biological supercomputer operates based on the software that is programmed into it.
You are extremely programmable.
You may believe you are in conscious control, but your subconscious programming dictates most of your habitual patterns.
Your subconscious mind is running the show.
Don’t believe me?
How do your days usually go?
Is there a running theme?
Most people live the same day over and over again.
Work, home, scroll, Netflix, eat, sleep.
The process repeats tomorrow.
There is not much conscious choosing.
I mean, most of us (including me) aren’t highly conscious of our social media usage.
Here’s a great example from my life.
I recently started using this app called ‘AppBlock’.
It allows you to block social media apps for a scheduled time frame.
Let’s say 9:00am — Noon.
If you attempt to open an app within this time frame, a screen pops up, reminding you the app is blocked. It shows you how many times you attempted to open the app and how many total attempts you have since using the app.
Embarrassingly, I have 5 Instagram attempts today alone, on the day that I’m writing this. I don’t even realize I’m doing it until I see that I’m blocked. It’s incredibly mind-opening.
Again.
Your subconscious mind is running the show.
Makes sense now?
In alignment with that statement, reality distorts itself to fit with your perception of it. Any data that proves your beliefs are allowed in. Data that contradicts your beliefs are discarded.
This is the RAS (reticular activating system) at work. You are constantly being bombarded with millions of bits of information and the brain can’t process it all at once. It picks out what is important based on its programming.
In the book “Reality Transurfing”, the author even says:
"You may have noticed that whatever you choose to believe is always manifested. What you choose is what you get. Whatever worldview you choose to believe, the truth of that worldview will always be on your side and others will argue with you because they too are right."
Think about a camera lens.
The image is blurry except for the focal point.
This means you never really see reality as it is, you see it as you are.
This is what the Law of Attraction really is:
You don’t get what you want. You get who you are.

Pygmalion Effect
Your beliefs don’t just affect you, but the people around you. Your beliefs surrounding other people affect how they show up in your experience. I know this might sound a bit weird.
There was an interesting experiment done in 1968.
The Pygmalion Effect Experiment.
Some teachers were told that a number of their students were extremely gifted. That they had incredible results on a IQ test. Of course, this wasn’t actually “true”.
But the teachers were told not to treat the students any differently or tell them they were gifted. It was only for the teachers to know.
At the end of the school year, those students scored significantly higher than the other students. Something about the teachers’ expectations influenced the child.
Here is the definition of “The Pygmalion Effect” from wikipedia:
"The Pygmalion effect, or Rosenthal effect, is a psychological phenomenon in which high expectations lead to improved performance in a given area and low expectations lead to worse."
This reminds me of the mystic Neville Goddard and his ‘Law of Assumption’.
In his philosophy, this law states that whatever we assume to be true will eventually harden into facts. Our view of others dictates how they show up in our reality. So if you believe a co-worker to be lazy, they continuously show up like that, and so on.
Here is one of his quotes:
“Change your conception of yourself and you will automatically change the world in which you live. Do not try to change people; they are only messengers telling you who you are. Revalue yourself and they will confirm the change.”
How could this be true?
From my perspective: non-duality.
There is actually no ‘other’.
There is one consciousness pretending to be many, and separation is the illusion.
Neville Goddard even says, “Everyone is you pushed out.”
You are one part of the whole.
A microcosm of the macrocosm.
Even quantum entanglement gives evidence to this, that we are more connected than we like to believe.
We are energetic beings, and we are all connected.
It’s kinda trippy.
Realize Your True Nature (You Are Not Your Beliefs)
So if you want to change your life experience, you have to change the camera lens through which you view the world.
Delete the old programming and install new beliefs.
View the world in a totally new way.
But deleting the old programming is difficult, I can tell you that firsthand.
Why is it so difficult?
Because it’s programming you have run most of your life and you have become identified with it.
Think about it like this.
IMAGINE you had a computer and every time you wanted to uninstall a program and upgrade it with a new piece of software, the computer would resist.
You: clicks uninstall
Computer: “System error. Program failed to uninstall”
You: “Okay, let’s try again.” clicks uninstall
Computer: “System error. Hardware refuses to uninstall the program.”
You: “Wtf is going on?”
Several months or even years would pass before the computer would finally accept the new software and process an upgrade.
It takes so long because the computer believes itself to be the software, thus attempting to uninstall a software program would trigger its “survival instincts.”
The computer has yet to realize its true nature is the hardware. It holds space for the software to run, but it is not the software.

This is what we as humans do.
We think ourselves to be our programming, our beliefs. We become completely identified with them.
Thus challenging these beliefs threatens the identity, and it’s extremely uncomfortable.
This is the reason growth is painful and most people end up quitting, never realizing their true potential.
The voice in their head says, “Hey, who do you think you are? You’re never gonna be able to pull this off.”
Or something along those lines.
The self-doubt starts creeping in.
You know exactly what I’m talking about, right?
The voice that tries to hold you back.
The thoughts in your head aren’t actually ‘you’.
You are not these beliefs.
Just as a computer’s true nature is its hardware, not the software it runs—your true nature is not tied to your programming or past conditioning.
When you were a baby, you were a blank slate. You had no ideas. No conception of what was “right” and “wrong”. You had no ‘sense of self’, your Ego was not developed yet.
Your caretakers, peers, and your culture have conditioned you to think and act in a certain way.
Because of the way “The Matrix” is set up, it’s likely that most of your beliefs are disempowering.
Realizing you are not your beliefs is a powerful step in leveling up.
Meditate on this.
Observe your thoughts.
One by one they float by you, yet something about you remains.
An unchanging presence.
Can you sense it?
Objective
Here is our objective:
Uninstall the fear-based programming that keeps you feeling small and disempowered.
Install new empowering programs that lead to your growth and success.
Everything is programming you in some way. The idea is that we want to get rid of negative, disempowering programming, (as best as possible), and consume more empowering programming.
Just like you can upgrade a computer with new updated software, you want to update your belief systems (programming).
We want to re-program ourselves by altering our environment and consciously curating what we consume.

Game Plan (Upgrade Your Character):
Avoid malware and viruses:
Junk food/Processed food
Look, I’m no saint, but whenever I’m eating somewhat clean and dip back into poor eating habits, I can detect a difference in my energy levels.
Low-Energy music
I no longer listen to struggle rap or sadboi pop punk music. I don’t think it serves my higher purpose to continue to believe in scarcity and lack or to ruminate in my sadness.
Low-Energy movies/tv shows
I don’t watch the news or follow politics (I’ve studied a few entrepreneurs and many—if not all of them—will tell you to turn off the news). There is a LOT of good happening in the world. The news tends to focus on the very small percentage of the bad keeping you in fear-based programming. If there’s something you really need to know about, you will find out.
Low-Energy accounts on social media / youtube channels.
This includes self-deprecating memes. Seriously, a couple years ago I unfollowed all the nihilistic and self-deprecating meme accounts that I was following. My life is much better now.
Negative people (people that complain and/or gossip)
By not minimizing this stuff to the best of your ability, you will continue to reinforce disempowering programming
What you should allow:
High-quality books
Books I highly recommend that will assist you in this character upgrade are, "Psycho-Cybernetics", “Reality Transurfing”, “The Power of Now”
Empowering accounts on social media / YouTube channels
I follow self-improvement accounts, spirituality accounts, and accounts that teach a skill I’m trying to learn. I also follow accounts that relate to my hobbies.
High quality foods
Again, I’m no saint. This is one thing I still tend to struggle with. I try to go 80/20 rule. Eat high-quality food most of the time and you can allow yourself “junk” now and then.
High-Energy music, positive lyrics or no lyrics
Nowadays, I listen to a lot of pop, dance, club music that gets me in a high-vibrational, good-feeling state. I listen to rap music that gets me pumped up and ready to take on the world. (Think Euro$tep by West.) Fun, energizing, synth-wave music for the good vibes. Etc.
High energy people (like-minded people)
Self-explanatory. People that bring you up. People that have similar goals. Etc.
Evidence
Alex Hormozi says, “You don’t become confident by shouting affirmations in the mirror, but by having a stack of undeniable proof that you are who you say you are.”
Your mind also needs evidence to support the new programming you are attempting to install.
In the beginning of the upgrade it’ll be difficult, remember, because the old programming will try to hold you back.
Always be on the lookout for proof of your new programming
Use evidence to confirm your new programming (we want to establish a database of evidence until your new beliefs harden into ‘facts’)
For example, a great mental model is the belief, “Life is always working out for me.”
This is one of my favorites and I use it often.
Every time I find evidence, I re-affirm this.
For example, whenever I come across the information I need, a post or a course, that helps me in my goal of building a one-person business, I re-affirm this.
Whenever someone offers to pay for something for me, someone gifts me something, I re-affirm this.
Even when it seems like something isn’t going “my way”, I know that once the dust settles, I’ll see how everything worked out.
The more I do this, the more evidence I find to support this belief.
This is now a firm belief of mine. I always seem to come across whatever I need because “Life is always working out for me.”
Open Your Mind (Ask better questions.)
You can also ask better questions.
What do I mean by this?
For example, because most people have negative self-talk, they tend to ask questions like:
“Why does this always happen to me?”
“Why can’t I ever catch a break?”
“How come I can never figure things out?”
Of course, life will continue to give them evidence for this.
When I first started creating content with the intention of running a one-person business, I had absolutely no idea how I would monetize or what products to build.
"I don’t know how I’m going to monetize this."
And because that’s what I was thinking, I didn’t know where to go for a while. I shut my subconscious mind down from solving the problem.
One day, I did a meditation. I asked how I would make money as a digital creator. I left it to the universe and then went on with my life. Over the next few days, I came across many ways in which I could monetize it and ideas circled in my mind:
Notion Templates
Grow and Monetize a Youtube Channel
Ads and Affiliates On My Podcast
Online Course
Coaching
Membership Group
Etc.
The list could go on.
I’ve been gaining so much clarity on my brand and who I want to serve.
Many ideas swirled in my head because I started asking better questions instead of cutting myself off from seeing the abundance of possibilities.
The RECAP
Let’s recap.
Your beliefs shape your life experience. Whatever you believe to be true, you tend to find evidence for.
Your brain is like a supercomputer and your subconscious programming is running your life.
You are not bound to your past conditioning. You can upgrade your beliefs, just like installing new software on a computer.
Your beliefs also influence how people show up in your experience.
It becomes easier to uninstall disempowering programming and install empowering programming once you realize your true nature and understand you are not your beliefs.
Upgrading your character means cutting out any programming that infects your character with disempowering beliefs and allowing in programming that empowers your character.
Your mind seeks evidence to confirm the beliefs you hold. Actively seek evidence that supports your new empowering beliefs. The more evidence you find, the more your beliefs harden into ‘facts’.
Frame your thoughts in the form of better questions. Instead of asking why things always go wrong, ask how you can overcome challenges and grow. Your mind will open up to a world of possibilities.
Now you have the cheat codes to bending reality.
If you follow the game plan, you will see a remarkable transformation happen within you. Reality bends to a world of infinite possibilities.
This is what is happening to me.
I wish the same for you.
I hope you found this useful.
